Thought I would fire up the PSP again and enjoy some God of War, but to my surprise it wouldn't turn on. So I figured it was out of juice and began charging it. After a while tried again and it still wouldn't turn on. When it was charging the orange light comes on like normal but I can't seem to power it on when it's plugged in either.

Is it dead? =(

i thought the title read...is my isp dead
i was going to reply...poke them with a stick.
you could also try that on your psp but it probably wouldnt be as much fun

it still under warranty ?

Haha, no way. Mine's a real oldie. Came straight from Japan ever since they launched it over there :)

I won't go as far as taking it apart because I'll have no idea what I'm doing... but I am open to more... shall we say... adventurous methods?

It's either that or find out how much it costs to fix... or buy a new slim :(

after having the charger in to make sure theres some power on the battery.

remove charger and try and power up the system. if you get a green blinking light then its some how bricked it's self and is easily fixed.

or it could just be the li-ion battery has kicked the bucket have you tried it from the mains with no battery in it?

maybe try a pandora?

also try booting it with no memory stick in it and see what happens :)

Pandora it, I bricked my PSP and I had the same problem as you, basically it came on with the green light but nothing happened on the screen, it charged as normal though.

I used a Datel Service Tool battery for my PSP Slim to unbrick it and flash the firmware, you can get a version of the battery for the older PSP too.

I don't even get a green light, the only light I get is the orange one... and that's only when it's charging. I have a few batteries and tried with all of them. The ones that need juice will charge, the fully charged ones give me no response. Tried booting it up with no battery and just connected to mains gives me nothing. Tried without a memory stick, again nothing.

Check around your area for local repair places that might do PSPs. They probably won't charge you for just opening it up and taking a look if you're not comfortable doing it yourself.

Could be something as simple as a fault with the power switch/slider piece. The fact that the charging light comes on is at least encouraging. Mine did the same for a while, but I just had to leave it charging for a good few hours and it came on again.

Have you modded it in any way? Is there anything you're not telling us?

Yes... buy a Nintendo DS and enjoy gaming for once!

ive had it before when the battery went flat running some homebrew. it then wouldnt switch on with the flick of the switch.

to fix it i held the power switch up for 10 seconds ( long enough to guarantee that it would switch off properly), i then flicked the switch to power it on, and it came on fine

It's not physically modded no... but it does have custom firmware running on it. But it's been running CFW for a fair bit now, more than a year at least. I guess I better find a local place that will open up my PSP and take a look.

Haha... well I have a NDS as well so I suppose I'll play that instead for that time being :)
