I have a Seasonic G series 550w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply

Ive got an i5 3570k @4.4ghz

Is my PSU enough to run a single 970, what about SLI 970s? I am thinking of upgrading my PSU, what do you recommend? Budget is around £140.

its should be ok for 1 card. you could run 2 cards on it as long as it has 4 pcie connectors. i would want at least 650w for sli for a bit of overclocking headroom. any of these would be fine for sli.

If anything, what can happen is that an older PSU can make a bunch of noise, or cause the GPU to make a bunch of noise. Can't really know if it'll do that without trying.
