I have been toying with the idea of upgrading my PC now that X58 is well established and my current setup (spec in sig) occasionally coughs when playing new games on high settings. I bought my current power supply, an Enermax Galaxy 1000w (EGA1000EWL i.e. not pci-e 2.0 compliant) feeling safe in the knowledge that it would be able to cope with whatever technology the future might throw at it.
But if this PSU was faced with, say the EVGA X58 Classified, from what I have been reading about compatibility, age and so on, I am doubting whether it can cut the mustard. Can any of you provide any input to support or discount my PSU being any good if I were to upgrade?
Cheers!
