I have been told, that my ram currently may actually be more of a hinderance then a benefit
I have recently upgraded from 256mb ram to 512mb and now 1gb of ram.
My current processor is athlon xp 2000+ and my mobo is asrock k7s41
I know these componenets are poor lol
anyways, i have been told that my ram (1gb of ddr400) may slowing down my comp due to it being faster then my mobo
I have noticed slowness during bootups, but i THINK an increase in speed after bootup (bootup is only slow after i click on a user on the logon screen, as it takes a long time when first booted up and logging on)
If i am slowing my mobo - is there any programs/things that can help me change how my ram is working, and use it to my advantage
or have i been given the wrong information...
thanks in advance... :D ...

^^^ Quoted for truth.

Whoever told you that it was slowing you down was talking nonsense.

In fact PC3200 (DDR400) RAM often has SPD (automatic RAM timings settings - they set the speed the RAM will run at) for both DDR400 and DDR333 (PC2700) RAM. This means that it will run tighter timings (a good thing) when it is forced to run at a slower speed. So it will run faster no doubt than most DDR333 sticks you would buy so not, it will not slow it down.
