Is my RAM compatible or am I up the creek..?

Hello everyone.

I'm currently sorting out part for a new build that i'm doing and may have come across a bit of a snafu...

I'm going to be using a Ryzen 5900x in an Asus Dark Hero motherboard and though i'm still waiting for several bits before I can start it, today the memory arrived.

The memory is the 3600 Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 4x16 64gb pack (CMW64GX4M4D3600C18) and i'm a little worried as it says it's configured for intel on the box and it doesn'tseem to be on the QVL.

However, PC parts picker says it's compatible and the site I bought it from doesn't mention compatibility at all.

So my question is this... Will it actually work or am I boned..?

Thanks in advance for anyone that can answer.

99% of ram will work wether it's on the qvl list or not so i wouldn't worry and should work fine.

Configured for intel or Ryzen is a bit of gimmick marketing ploy.

Ahha. Thanks. :)

I was a little worried as I didn't notice untill I'd actually broken the seal and looked at the clam shells, so sending them back might have been a bit tricky. Lol

Although I now have to wonder if i'll get the full 3600mhz as I've heard that can be a thing sometimes with incompatible RAM. (Sorry, my anxiety likes to grab stuff and run with it. Lol )

Running 4 sticks is often a little tricky, especially when they're 16GB, so it's possible you'll have to dial it back anyway.

Its not incomptable otherwise it wouldnt work which im sure it will , its just not on the qvl list as manufacturers cant or dont test every memory.

Why do you need 64gb of ram ?

It's going to be a bit of a do everything machine. It's obviously going to be used for gaming, but it's also going to see quite a lot of working in photoshop and illustrator etc... And just for fun I also wouldn't mind having a dabble with 3d software like Blender.

Sounds like your building a beast, good luck with your build.

Haha. Thanks. :)

It's not going to be the "most bestest PC evar" as there are some phenominal (and expensive) setups out there. :D But it does feel good to be able to get some above average parts and have a PC capable of doing both work and play for a change.

And truthfully, being able to save money is the one good thing about the lockdowns etc... You can't spend as much money if you can't go out anywhere. Lol
