Purchased 4G pc8500 OCZ gold edition RAM and think one stick is faulty. Put both pairs in first and when booting up it just stayed on a black screen. Took one out and it booted up fine. Took that one out and put the other one in and it stayed on the black screen again,

Take it i have a faulty stick??:))

PS. Bought it else where, not overclockers

If it works with one and not the other I would probably say it's a faulty stick, had a problem a while ago with some DDR ram.

If you put the suspected faulty stick in the slam ram slot then it is a good bet that the stick is faulty yes.

Time to RMA - OCZ have a good returns process you will have to go either to the vendor you bought it from or direct depending on the age of the ram. OCZ tends to have a lifetime warranty.

I contacted the selller and he is possitive that they do work as he has tested them in different machines. Could it be that my motherboard does not support them?? But still if one works and the other doesnt:(

If you have done as you have said you have. Tested each stick in each and every ram slot on your motherboard, and the one stick does not work then that is all there is to it.

Return the ram to the seller and get your money back. He will be able to RMA the sticks to OCZ no problem at all.

Last thing. If you look on the ram it has a sticker on it. Make sure your voltages are set in the bios to match the voltage rated on the ram.

Often motherboards default to 1.65 or lower but the ram requires 2.2 to work. Just have a quick look and make certain.
