Hi,

Could someone please confirm that when using an Asus P8Z68 VLX, it is OK to use Corsair Vengeance LP Blue 8GB DDR3 1600Mz, because I have the mobo and RAM but looked on the Asus site and cannot seem to find my RAM in the Memory Support list

Thanks :D

Well I bought both bits from the same stand at LITS, and they knew they were going in the same computer as I bought all the other parts from them too, so I assumed that if they sold me those parts, they would be compatible.

Hmmmmmmmmm

Might be an idea to check these things BEFORE you buy them :p

Also, Hyburnate, how come one 1600 memory would be supported and not another? What's the difference?

Just because its the same RAM speed doesn't mean its the exact same, you have different timings and they are made by many different manufacturers, your probably best asking in the RAM section.

That's good to know :D

I thought it would be since they sold it to me all together

Can I ask how you found out it was compatible so I know for next time?

Thanks,

All DDR3 PC3-12800 memory is compatible with SandyBridge (1155) motherboards. Regardless of any other factors.

The memory manufacturer Crucial, offer a memory advisor tool to check. Also the mobos manufacturer website also lists it.

What your looking for is the supported frequency and whether or not it's DDR2 or DDR3. That's the only two kinds still being produced today. Older DDR isn't supported anymore.

--------------

4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 Hz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel Memory Architecture
Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)
* Hyper DIMM support is subject to the physical characteristics of individual CPUs.
* Refer to www.asus.com or user manual for the Memory QVL (Qualified Vendors Lists).
* Due to CPU behavior, DDR3 2200/2000/1800 MHz memory module will run at DDR3 2133/1866/1600 MHz frequency as default.

That was taken from the product page of your motherboard on the manufacturers site. I've highlighted all you needed to know. Then all you do is look at the product description and cross check those points. The Corsair of meets those criteria.

Simples.
