ok so im about the put my system together, but while looking for some water cooling stuff and fans i come across a gigabyte g1 sniper 3 and then noticed the m3 version

i currently have a ga-z77-d3h which i though was best suited for what i needed at the time of buying it,

so now i have all that fun stuff sorted, i'm now curious about this g1.sniper boards
i have compared the boards but wondered if these is any noticeable difference other then the 2 way and 4 way sli/xfire.
im sure im not going to need more then 2 way, so the question is is it worth getting over what i have currently?

what i have spec wise.
i5-3570k
Corsair Vengeance Pro 1600mhz (2x4gb) will upgrade later if need be....
r9 290,
Corsair RM1000
SanDisk 128gb boot drive
yet to buy hdd, likely 750gb/1tb.
z77-d3h i currently have
and one but soon to buy another 20" screen
win 7 64 bit

so i am looking to over clock the cpu and gpu, the cpu to near max once on water and gpu to moderate levels, likly on stock cooling, unless temps are terrible

at the moment i have a stock air cooler for the cpu. but once every thing is up and running and i know everything is working,

was then going to look at water cooling, not sure if to go closed loop with a single or double rad, or go full system using two 240 rads and do cpu and gpu in a series setup. but thats for another day.

is there any thing else i can change? make better? of would you say im pretty sorted for most games on high

cheers :D

Hi,

So you already have this (except HDD) and are just wondering about changing motherboard?

No point in changing to the G1 sniper I would say. Current build looks fine as is for must games on ultra/very high if you're at 1080p.

yes correct everything but the hdd. i have hard drives knocking about but there laptop ones and an old 5400rpm seagate one so not really worth using.
altho i have see advertised a 4tb hybrid drive on tv, which looks interesting, would going hybrid be smoother then a separate boot and storage drive?
and was also thinking going raid 1, unless i just run the 128gb ssd, and then save for a big ssd? my laptop has 1tb ive had it two years and still have well over half the disk volume. so can't see me needing more then 750gb

i would like to play games as high as possible. think that setup would play ultra?

so what advantage does the g1 sniper boards have?

altho the d3h is a budget board from what i see it'll let the k series cpus run to max any way. only big major difference i see is the 16x/16 compared to the d3h 16x/8x which from benchmarked gpus have around 10 fps hit compared. to 16/16 vs 8/8

and lastly. with water cooling, is a ready to run closed loop kit the best way? i read there nearly as good as a custom loop if your just cooling the cpu,

altho i have see the mod to fit to gpus.

yer thats what i found, but couldnt work out if it was worth the effort.

the m3 is pretty much a match for the board i have, and looking at the bios screen shots the settings and options look near on the same,

the g1 sniper 3 on the other hand has 16/16 pcie 3 slots. and a better lan chip and a few other things, but then im not sure im even going to need those extras

wow 1080 on ultra, wasnt what i was aiming for but ill take it :D

can wait to get over clocking :D
