Is my SNES dying?

Hey all.
I have noticed my SNES only outputs to one speaker. I am pretty certain it is supposed to be stereo? I never noticed when it went through my TV because the speakers are poor.
I have bought a new AV cable just to be sure it is not that.

I have also noticed that on Earthworm Jim 2 all the 'high quality' sound effects only sound for a slit second before being cut off - For example when he should say 'groovy' he stops at 'g'. This could be the cart but I have never heard of a faulty cart.
The power cable is a tad dodgy but I am certain that this is unrelated.

I have no other SNES to try things on, but am leaning towards buying another.

Any ideas/comments? :).

Define "a tad dodgy" maybe it's not powering the snes properly.

Might be worth running a google search to see there is any common audio faults.

Btw I think games were mono back then? Could be wrong though.
