I've just overclocked my i5-2500k to 4.5GHZ with 1.230v... I'm getting temperatures with prime95 running of 62 maxium (both on speedfan and real temp) is this too high? The system isn't going to be left on 24/7.

By the way the cooler is an A50 and the case is an Antec 300

I was eeing similar temps with my H50. At 1.26v @ 4.5 i was hitting mid 60 to high 60's while running prime.

I monitorred temps while I was playing different games such as civ 5 (which i think is CPU intensive) and Dragon Age and the temps never went above 55. I think as prime is full 100% core use when you start using real applications and games not many of them keep the CPU at 100% for long enough to take it into the temps for long anyway ?

My logic oculd of course be seriouslt flawed as I am new to the worl dof K series chips

my i5 2500k @4.4ghz 1.3v is showing temps between 54-60 after an hour of prime 95 blend test, so sounds about right

first core is coldest, last core is hottest :)

have'nt seen it going over 45 yet in games

im gonna try get it stable at 4.5ghz, if that dont work out try and reduce volts and keep it at 4.4 ghz :)

the chip throttles back if you go to high in temp like 90-95C or something so you are perfectly ok at low 60's

ambient room temps make difference, you might just be in slightly warmer/colder room so always gonna be bit of range in temps for different people.
