When i look closely everything seems slightly out of focus. Also i can see pixels all over the screen; it's not flickering but almost a very faint snow storm in the background. I have directx9 so what's up?!

Hmm, that doesn't sound normal, if it is analogue have you tried re-adjusting the screen or using the auto-detect? If DVI is available use that?

Normal if you look really close, you shouldn't be able to see it at arms length.

when i say out of focus it really is very slightly indeed. You know when letters have slight shadows on them when you get bad reception on tv. It's very similar to that but much less exaggerated.
can't really see the snowstorm at arms length but it still bothers me!

could it be my gfx card (it's crap)

Not sure tbh, wouldn't have thought your graphics card would do it and I've not seen shadows on letters like that, you need someone who knows more about TFTs and such than I do :)

Are you in the native resolution for the screen, and using a safe refresh rate, such as 60Hz?

Also, if it's connected via the (blue) VGA cable in analogue mode, then it's possible some of the settings could be out. I remember an old TFT in work used to have a "snowstorm" effect when the phase setting was out. But different manufacturers use slightly different terms for some settings.

not able to post screenie sorry. I am using a normal vga lead and its a dell monitor. How would i check all these settings that you mention? I know im on 60 refresh rate for sure...

wrong word sorry. Meant photo. How do i change it to my native res?!

Display from Control Panel, then settings.

If it's 15", the native res will be 1024*768. 1280*1024 if it's 17" or 19".

ok put it on again this morning and same thing. Lots of flickering nowstorms in the background and still everything not clear. Getting a real problem. ANyone any ideas?
