Is my xonar d2 dead on arrival

Ok this is a weird one, as soon as i stick the d2 in my motherboard, everything boots normal. until i get to logon screen whci i dont see. The monitor then goes into power save mode and stays there nothing i can do.

Take the card out and pc is fine again. any ideas ? or is this bust. :eek:

hi m8 i cant try another slot i havent got one . well i have but the gfx card is in the way.

Boot up in safe mode and make sure your resolution hasn't messed up, that could be causing your monitor to be out of range.

you bios isnt trying to use it as a graphics card is it? try manualy setting the bios to the gpu slot

Yes m8 thats exactly what its doing, even when i set it to PCI-E -16 still loads it as vga.

my xfx card has an led on it that goes red soon as it hits the log on screen.

do you have the latest bios for it? Maybe it has an issue with the card. The eVGA 680i needed a bios update to get the Xonar to work on it for some reason, maybe it's the same for your motherboard.

don't use @BIOS to update your gigabyte, put the newest bios on a usb stick and then use qflash from within the BIOS
