Is now the time for a GFX card upgrade?

Hi all,

Simple thread really. I can't find much concrete on google so I was wondering if people think buying a GTX 670 or HD 7950 or above (not GTX Titan:eek:) In the next 3-4 months is a good or terrible idea based on manufacturer cycles.

Now? :D

Or Wait?

In the next 3-4 months It may be worth waiting but who knows, but really you could say that now. If you can wait and you're still playing games at acceptable framerates then sure hang around for the 700/8000 series.

Might be better asking closer to the time you're intending on upgrading :)

Well I spot an opportunity to now, but I'd rather not get absolutely rinsed if there are big spec bumps/price drops just a couple of months away!

AMD have no plans to release till Q4 or even next year (not sure what rumour to believe) and the 7 series from Nvidia could be June.

As you own a 6970, it could pay to hang onto that for now and see how things pan out.

unles your going from 6950 to titan, not worth it imo. (unless you're going higher than 1920x1200) even going from 6950 to 680 is only about 40% overall gain on average at 1200p. i can still mostly max things on my 6950 putting tessellation down to 16x on ccc helps as it doesn't have the strongest tesselator and cant really handle more than that, but still looks good.
