I'm ordering a new Shuttle SFF PC from OcUK along with a license for Win 7 64-bit, Home Premium version. I've looked at screenshots on the web, I see that My Computer / Explorer is laid out fairly differently, likewise to Win Vista. Is there a way, perhaps by means of registry, to make it more like Win 2000 / XP-style? In XP, I remember how to get rid of the dog so that the search function was exactly like 2000's. Perhaps something as simple as that can be done in 7?

Thanks :-)

P.S. And how to get classic start menu and classic control panel too? (as they've seemed to had done away with those too)

Not trying to be difficult, but you'd be better off actually using it first and seeing how you get on with it. It might be unfamiliar at first, but you'll likely find that it's actually far easier and nicer to use the way it is now, compared to the old XP/2000 way of doing things.

The main improvements Vista and 7 have brought to the table over XP are in terms of usability, so it's actually worth giving them a far chance before looking to turn back the clock by 8 years. :)

Sure, I'll give it a shot :-)

Is 'breadcrumbs' the clickable back/forwards path, where you can click anywhere in the hierarchy? E.g. if you are browsing at c:\windows\drivers\etc, you can click at either c, windows, drivers and etc?

yes it is

personally I just use 7 as it comes

I used to change the search in XP, just like you do :)
