Is onboard Audio powerfull enough for 5.1?

I have my Z5500's connected up via analogue to my AC'97 and have recently begun watching DVD's through them.

The 2 rear audio channels seem to be very "weak", if thats the term to use.

Dont get me wrong, they work, just something not quiet right.

You only REALLY seem to hear the detail when theres something big like thunder or loud cars etc.

All the incidental stuff seems to be "lost" if that makes sense.

Ive adjusted the "surround" volume levels etc to no avail.

try it connected thru digital instead

STUPID ME.

I forgot could use that for DVD's.

I normally forget to use it you see as I game on the PC and obviously cannot get 5.1 via the co-ax.

I thought of using the Co-Ax but my brain was in game mode and said "Naa, wont work".

Will try now.

Well, the surround was DEFINITELY more defined via the Coax digital connection.
