Hi,

How good is openoffice? I was thinking about using it instead of shelling out tons of dosh for Office 2007. I don't need any fancy stuff so OO looks pretty damn good for the price:) Anyone got any opinions?

Thanks

I only used writer (word) so far and it is all so worth it. I was surprised to how good it is and how little space the whole thing takes up.

It is absolutely perfect for home and office use, there is very little that M$ Office will do that Oo won't. Anyone that buys M$ Office needs to seek professional help as they are terminally stupid. Oo is that good.

I run a small business and I use it everyday and it performs perfectly at every office task I have thrown at it, including quite complex spreadsheets. :)

I have it installed and tbh I'm not going to use MS office again if I can't help it. It's a much leaner piece of software and I'm very very impressed with it :)

I love open source/free stuff like this. I can't wait till Creative release their drivers for X-Fi sound cards to the Linux community - then I'm permanently moving over to Ubuntu :)

I'd love to use it on my home machine and work machine, but until they have something that can use publisher files and allow work to be saved as a publisher I'll have to stick with MS. Both at home and work, too many files are publisher and the last time I tried OO it didn't support them :(
