looking to get a conroe today but needsome ram to go with it.

I'm not interested in overclocking at all with this rig, just need stable memory which will work with either the ASUS or the GIGABYTE MB's.

thanks

If you're not overclocking then the minimum that memory needs to do on a conroe rig is 266Mhz. PC2-5400 runs at 333Mhz, as such you can safely run it at 266Mhz for a non-overclocked setup.

If you want, you could get PC2-4200 which is 266Mhz stock but get the PC2-5400 so you can overclock the FSB in the future should ever get the urge :)

great stuff....all i need to know.

It's going to be used as a power workstation so i can't see it being overclocked. Stability is the real issue for this one.

thanks again,
