Is Plex still a thing?

Well, the 'sale' discounts should be epic going forward. I get the lifetime pricing is/was unsustainable, but that's a heck of a jump.

Yep I agree, I do half wonder whether it's such a steep jump to put people off from bothering with the lifetime pass. At the equivalent increase it'll be about £570 which is more than 11 years of yearly sub. Granted I've had mine for more than 11 years and I obviously hope it'll continue for another 11+ years. But if I was entering the game now I think I'd be looking at open source alternatives with those sorts of costs.

I’ve been using for well over 10 years, but I succumbed to Lifetime (which at the time I thought was hefty) 28th Apr 2016 so 10 years in total for £59.99. What an investment that was.

That's a very large jump indeed! I've no idea when I got my lifetime subscription but I think I paid about £80 for it which I remember thinking was a lot. Have to say it's been worth every penny. I'd even jump at $250 (I'd no idea it was that much now though) but $750 is just a tad too much.

Wow, they won't be selling many of them. What are they thinking. I've been looking for a 40% voucher.

Been using Plex since 2016 but I never thought I'd use a lifetime pass so I always ignored it assuming I'd never get the value, I wonder how many years now you'd have to use Plex to make it worth it

Monthly/annual passes are far more profitable for them, as simple as that I guess.

Yikes! That's quite the increase - to almost Roon type levels.

More and more services seem to be pushing their users towards monthly or annual subscriptions as they'd prefer a steady incomes stream instead of a one and done lifetime access.

Happy I bought a lifetime licence during a sale years ago (2017) and it does get used more days of the week than not.

Saw the post about this today, that's a fair increase. I paid £60 for it many years ago so have definitely had my moneys worth.

Lifetime pass since 2014 on a Black Friday deal, glad I haven’t been paying a subscription…

Ouch that's steep for what it is.

I'm pleased I saw a deal on HUKD last year as managed to get life time pass for around £30. Had to use a VPN and Argentinian currency but it worked...
