Is Plex still a thing?

If it's on the same device it's not going though any LAN cable.

:)

No it's not on the same device.

Pi5 LMS stored on a 2.5" SSD, is on a LAN, NAS on a LAN.
NAS has PLex music

So overhead of the PLex/NAS is lower as not going through gigabit network cable.

Plex will be scanning music internally, like a desktop PC with music stored locally
Wheras Pi is like LMS on the desktop, but the music is on the NAS.

If you know how to set things up properly you don't get these issues. Never used it for music but it's key that certain settings are setup properly, with networks, ports and settings in plex itself and your router.

With 1235 Movies and 323 TV Shows mines like butter but only runs on a i5 NUC with 16GB RAM. ALSO it's very important to disable all the plex crap they force on you.

This way you only see your own media. I tell people using my server to do this.
Thanks for this I was about to disable all the crap. You’ve saved me a google. Cheers.
