Hi guys, trying to find a good new isp and am considering Plusnet. Anybody have any experience of them? If so good or bad?

I am currently with idnet but am fed up with them ignoring support requests, having their email servers go down and the price. I am not a heavy user, certainly no more than 12Gb a month and even then that is a rare peak. There are no LLU's up here, nor or there going to be any time soon. No cable either. I was looking at Sky but as they can't be bothered to reply to the email i sent them 8 days ago it does'nt bode well for their customer service. So it comes down to Plusnet or possibly Newnet. Any opinions will be much appreciated.

Plusnet are owned by BT, and are pretty variable. They don't compare all that well to Idnet either.

What about Zen? £24.99 for a 20GB limit.

Did'nt know that. Zens too expensive (need to make cutbacks) as i am currently paying the same price for 30Gb with idnet and i don't get anywhere even remotely close to that cap. Newnet is £16.99 for 12Gb and Plusnet is £14.99 for 15Gb which is why i was interested in those two.

Enta reseller like UKFSN? £16.50 for 30GB off peak, 3GB peak.

The 3Gb peak is no good to me although they do a package for £19.99 with a 30Gb peak for £19.99. Still save me a fiver a month. What's the difference between the normal BT derived packages and Enta resellers? I have been wondering this for a while now as quite a few people get recommended to try a Enta reseller.

Im with plusnet and theyre pretty good. They reply to any of my support tickets fast and most seem to know what im on about whenever i do ask a question. I cant comment on speed wise as i live in a village and can only get 2mb

ditto, live on an island and can only get 2.5mb - but been with them about 4 years, they're happy to let me download 150gb a month, never had any warning from them, fast with tickets (though they had a bad year once)..

Ive been with plusnet for a while, and granted they have had their ups and downs, their support is generally pritty good and based in the UK..
I would deffinatly rate them above the likes of talk talk and tiscali..
Although BT dose now own them tuch-wood things are still ok.

as for ID Net I here thats pritty good as well, also uses UK based support

if you ever use bittorrent then forget it, only time you will get any decent throughput with plus is after 1am.

Throttled between 4pm and midnight if you're near your 20gb allowance (20gb between those hours only)

unlimited outside of those hours though, full speed.

no that isn't true. To prove a point, I added a nice torrent with plenty of seeds from a legal torrent site and left it for 25 minutes.

Flat line at 30kb/s, it won't go any higher than that until after about 1am. I shall continue the download after this time for comparison.

Don't use torrents anyway which is why i don't need a large cap. 12Gb will do me.

What about O2? They seem to get very good comments from people. Surely there must be a catch? Unlimited downloads too!! Not that i will need that.
