Hi, sorry if this has already been posted, im going to buy windows 7 soon, the price of home is considerably cheaper then pro or ultimate.

what massive difference or features are missing from home?

Is pro/ultimate worth the extra £££?

Cheers

excellent, might just go with home then, as a gamer/developer/photoshopper i hope im not missing out too much!

cheers

With no disrespect to the OP, this has been done to death. Are we going to get bombed with "Home or Pro?" and "32 or 64 bit?" threads for the next few weeks?

Pro and ultimate are all business features, stuff like being able to join a domain, virtualised XP (not to be confused with XP compatibility mode which Home still has), Bitlocker and such. Nothing that someone running a home PC will miss.

Remote desktop host is not strictly a business feature and those buying Pro inc myself will be doing so just for that feature.

Home does not have RDP hosting, only client connection.

Ouch!

I would be using Pro anyway, for the small extra it's worth future proofing for anything that might not make the Home release.

It's not a huge deal as someone will mod terminal services to allow RDP hosting, right now the only patch is to allow concurrent connections for Professional RTM.

But I'd rather have an unhacked copy on my own machine because every time MS release an SP termserv needs updating :p

I'm afraid I am going to close this thread. We have had plenty of these types of threads in the Windows & Other Software section already. Please do a search in future. :)
