Hi all,

Does anybody know this for sure?

..is 'Processor Queue' and 'Run Queue' the same thing?

..our are they totally difference things?

Thanks

These are in tools we use at work to measure 'capacity' of our systems.

These two measurements are relevant to the CPU

Linux / Unix systems tend to talk in terms of processor and run queues etc.

To me a processor queue is usefull for showing the process load for each cpu or cpu core, while the run queue is possible the overall queue before it gets scheduled onto a processor core.

The exact meaning would really depend on which OS, and who wrote the tool, but potentially they would be different.

To be honest I suspect that run queue/processor queue are just varients of the same thing in slightly different OS builds.
