Is it really out? I didnt think this was coming out til july/august like graw 2, but according to a couple of competitors, its out not. And a few reviews aswell, apprently theres been a few graphical improvements aswell.

Not seen it in the open but it is supposed to be out today, one place has it on offer with a PS3 for £425. Some revies say graphics better some say its worse! Heard the textures may not be as good but the draw distance is better. Got it on PC so I wont bother, got The Darkness, and NGS to play through first.

A review http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/799/799830p1.html

And some thoughts on the gfx from that review:

One area that Rainbow Six: Vegas on the PlayStation 3 does fall a little short on when compared to the other versions is with regards to visuals. It's a nice looking game to be sure, but the whole thing doesn't look quite as sharp as it could. Colors are a little duller and there isn't as much use of certain effects, like bloom lighting and such. Some folks may appreciate that aspect to a certain degree, but beyond that it still doesn't look quite as nice as what we've seen previously. Some texture work isn't quite as sharp, and the characters aren't as detailed as what's found in the 360 release, especially in the faces. Weapons that have been dropped pop in and out of view as you approach and walk away when they're but a mere 50 feet or so away.

Also, as we've mentioned in one of our last previews of the game, there's a weird issue when running the title in 1080i as everything, including the menus, look very blurry. It's pretty sharp when played at 720p, which leads us to believe that at 1080i the game is still rendering at 720p and then upscaling the output image to 1080i, but poorly. So by all means, choose custom resolution support and turn off 1080i when playing the game - you'll be very happy you did.

Holy crap another port failing to match the 360 version, where have I seen this before. :(

If there have been any graphical improvements they'll most likely soon be patched into the 360 version.

It's worse already read RuMp3l4$k1n's post. :o

I did :p Note the use of "if". I don't really trust many reviews nowadays, there are lots of conflicting sources when it comes to this sort of thing.

Oh. :o

Meh I really want to see a game that's ported from PS3 to 360 just to see the graphical comparison.

I'd find it pretty funny if the 360 version still turned out better.

Yes its out, ive got it. TO be honest its not as nice graphically as the 360 one, but im hoping it runs smoother. It seems to have a very blurry look to it rather than being sharp.

Are you running it at 1080i?

Just asking because it mentions something about a blur issue in that article.

IGN said the frame rate is pretty much the same back when they did a preview for it.

Besides I never had any problems with the frame rate on the 360 version.

In my 'limited' experience with games out on both platforms the 360's graphics are crisper but very often suffer from tearing, whereas the PS3's are a little softer around the edges but run nice and smooth.

I was disappointed with the textures on the 360 version, I always found them too blurry. Shame because GRAW2's are ace and razor sharp.

Just in case you don't have the time/effort to read the article :p

Hope that works.
