Is repeated sleep mode safe?

How do you mean safe?

I have my htpc in sleep all the time, it get's a once a month reboot for patches and seems to be running fine with no obvious slow down or anything.

be interested to know as mine is similar. not that i care that much as i hope to sell this bad boy next year and build me a new one but would be nice to know for now. It also is never shut down unless windows is constantly having a go at me to restart which isn't that often.

Just that my pc goes into sleep mode more than 5 times a day i'm sure i read somewhere it can stress your components.

That sounds like the usual rubish people come out with when trying to justify leaving their PC's on 24/7. Sleep mode is certainly no more stressfull than powering it on and off anf powering it on and off 5 times a day will not reduce the lifespan of your PC to a point where it matters, it's not like it will still be in daily use in 5 let alone 10 years.

This is one of those issues that you could write pages on. All I can say is I've put computers to sleep for years and not seen any problems beyond the odd time it doesn't wake up properly and needs a reboot.

I always put mine to sleep now... it doesn't boot up properly sometimes but generally fine.

How is power usage though?
