No it isnt. If I had asked "does anyone know who Roy Shaw is", or if I had done a poll asking the same thing, then I would expect that sort of answer.

Yes it is. Imagine if you'd brought the conversation up in the pub and a mate had said he didn't know who he was. It's perfectly valid.

We're not in a pub though with mates; its a majority of people who don't know each other and go online to discuss specific topics or ask questions.

I don't understand why people feel the need to add nothing to a thread by posting "I don't know him".

Its like me going into the hardware forum and someone asking what benchmarking scores have people got for the newest intel chip, and me writing, "I don't know as I don't have one and have never heard of it". It adds no value at all and one cares.

Is this another case of "Phil Collins"?

has someone just seen that a Roy Shaw has passed on and straight away thought of the notoriously unfamous Roy "Pretty Boy" Shaw?

No, this is general discussion, it's exactly like being in the pub having random conversations. This is not a specialist area of the forum so generalist answers are acceptable.

Also, I haven't heard of him.

Thats what I thought too, but theres people saying "I know his son" and "I've got family going to his funeral".

I think its one of these East End, hard cases dont gossip to the media situations.
