Is running a GTX 570 on a PCI-e 1.0 lane a problem?

It should run in a PCI-E 1.0 slot as they're supposed to be backwards compatible.

Performance wise you should be OK as long as it's a x16 speed PCI-E 1.0 slot.

That would be the equivalent bandwidth of a x8 PCI-E 2.0 slot which is fine.

Running in 1.0 instead of 2.0 may result in a bit of a problem when gaming at 1920*1080 I think. 2.0 has double the bandwidth of 1.0, so theoretically more demanding games may need the extra bandwidth... (i think) :P

What board though? Quite a few boards (mainly Asrock boards) with PCI-e 1.0 had problems with PCI-e 2.0 cards or just would'nt run them at all.

PCI-E 2.0 does have double the bandwidth of PCI-E 1.0.

As long as it's a x16 speed PCI-E 1.0 slot, which is the equivalent to a x8 PCI-E 2.0 slot, then it's not a problem as long as there are no compatability isses.

rubbish - very little realworld difference

I did though have some issues with my Gigabyte 480 running at stock overclock at stock volts ... and needed to bump voltage up substantially

whether thats related to the fact that v1.0 PCI-E slot itself has lower max power output I don't know ...

but with a raise in volts I'm running my GTX480 @ 810 mhz - and its not being bottlenecked as far as I am aware :)

re the voltage thing - we'll see if true or not as I'm going Sandy soon with a new mobo ..... if the GTX480 does not run at the stock volts and factory overclock I'll be annoyed

basically I couldn't get it to run at stock volts/factory overclock - sent to Gigabyte - who tested it - with no issues - I got it back - changed PSU (Corsair HX850) and still had issues

I think my response was more polite ;)

:D

Op, who cares if I makes a difference? What you need to know is that this is a very good excuse to justify an ivy system with pcie 3

It doesn't make any noticeable difference, but a new CPU probably will depending on what you play.
