What benefit does social media actually bring? Of course a waste of time.

It only started as a way for advertisers to peddle their crap and harvest data.

Aside from this and an account on Twitter, solely to engage with utilities company in a timely fashion. Yes, this and that and everything else in between is a waste of time.

You've wasted my time but I've also wasted yours!
 
I guess it depends how you use it. I only really use Instagram, in the traditional sense of social media, and it entertains me enough
 
I joined Facebook really late. Like maybe 2012 or thereabouts. I feel until about 2017 it was decent and genuinely saw good updates from friends and liked seeing updates from their lives. Then it gradually became worse and worse. I'm only really on it for the groups now.

I used to love Facebook and now I find it rather creepy…!

Twitter, meanwhile, is just horrible. Everyone is soooo angry! :(

I think "early" internet was still quite good (for me that's 1998), same reason why I prefer forums like this rather than cesspits of mental disease [twitter, fb, reddit, etc] (I don't necessarily mean the denizens, I mean the propagation of mental disease).

I'm quite glad actually that this forum has managed to stay strong when most have evaporated, it's slightly like a time capsule of old internet before everything became centralised onto bigger platforms.

Edit: GD is still a dumpster fire though :D
