Not seen this mentioned anywhere but was wondering if Sony are going to discontinue the manufacture of the SIXAXIS now that the DualShock 3 is being prepped for release.

If you mean the removal of the tilt feature, it will stay - I would imagine that much like how Sony phased out the old plain controllers for dual-analogs and eventually rumble in the PS1 era, the plain SIXAXIS will be phased out with the rumble pad being the norm.

No, I meant the controller itself. They can't really remove the tilt feature as it would break the games that have featured it so far.

I would imagine the controller will cease production. Just a gut feeling. (with the controllers from then on including tilt and rumble feature together)

That's what DualShock 3 is - it combines rumble and tilt. I was just wondering if Sony were going to include SIXAXIS (tilt) in the box forever and a day and force people to purchase DualShock 3 (tilt+rumble) as an extra.

They've already ceased production afaik but don't want to phase the new one in until everyones bought up the millions that they've sat in inventory.

Will they change the triggers because the few times I have used a PS3 the L2 and R2 triggers I have found to be horrible to use. It was much better on the PS2 controllers.

Lame, if they fixed the triggers and the horrendous dead zones on the analogue sticks the pads would be much better.

Just bought my PS3 last wednesday and will be sticking to the one controller till dual shock 3 rolls out and i'll buy a couple of those :)

You guys are right about the triggers though they should have just kept the original PS2 pad and added the extra PS3 bits to that.

I've always wondered why they haven't just swapped the left stick with the Dpad, surely that would make access to the joystick much less of a pain?

Yeah this is definitely something that needs to be fixed. Having had a 360 for nearly a year now I find the change in analogue stick position on the PS3 really annoying.

Wouldnt that feel too bunched up together though? Remember the xbox 360 controller is a lot bigger then the ps3 one.

But if the ps3 pad was a big bigger, then it would be ok

Because the controller was designed ten years ago and is out of date yet sony do not realize this?

It's not that, just Sony have always stuck by the motto "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", this has been the case with pretty much every one of their products in the companies history.
