I've been trying to get onto BCBF2 for about 2 hours, everytime Steam tries to load it says:

Steam Updating - 0% - Complete
Steam is temporarily unavailable, please try again later

Doesn't even give me the option for offline mode :(
 
Just booted up steam and it's working fine for me.

Just saw alex's reply and thought i'd mention that i'm not using beta.

Which fix? Deleting the blob or removing the beta?

The blob didn't work for me. I'll check back on the steam forums and see if there is an official word/fix later.

Steam still appears to be on the blob even after I delete it. Update gets to ~ 30% and then restarts giving the "Steam Temporarily Unavailable" message.

Grrr, looks like I'm going to have to do some study instead.

edit: create a shortcut to Steam with -clearbeta after the target and this will launch the old Steam UI.

The -clearbeta trick should work, though I'm quite fond of the new interface, so I'll still wait around for a fix if it comes today at some point. I'm not gaming atm anyway.
 
Deleting the blob doesnt work for me, still get unavailable.

I like the Beta UI, not sure if I want to to go back to the old one, but I guess issues are to be expected with beta product
 
I had the same error running the Beta so I tried deleting the blob file and it works fine. Odd that that trick doesn't work for everyone.
 
Didn't work for me, deleted it again and ran steam.exe from inside the steam folder and that seems to work, strange.
 
Hopefully this will be fixed by the time I get home from work, I really like the new UI, so it would be a shame to have to to back to the old one.
 
im on the steam beta and its down for me

Edit: I cleared the beta then deleted the blob file and it worked.
