argh I updated steam about a week ago to the flashier looking version, then 2 days ago, I loaded it again and it said it was updating, and now it won't connect at all. I tried it yesterday, and it's still not working today. It's not my firewall :-s

Delete clientregistry.bolb in your steam folder and restart. It'll redownload and then hey presto!
