is STEAM game site any good ?

I finally have a good laptop Dell XPS L702 3d that can decently handle games. I've heard a bit about STEAM game site and have gone to their website for a look. I'm no hardcore gamer by any means but I'd like to put my shiny new Laptop to the test. Any thoughts or suggestions?:confused:
 
Steam is certainly trustworthy. You just missed the big sale which is when you get the best prices otherwise you need to make sure things are not more expensive (this is the UK highstreet retailers forcing publishers not to have too low prices on steam).

As for games Metro 2033 is good for kicking the teeth of systems, Portal 2 is nice looking and a lot of fun and if you have not played the assassin's creed games then II and brotherhood are good.

Steam is great, downloads are fast and most of the time use your full speed to download games. Once you have the game your set for life, It remains on your account and you don't have to worry about patches or updates it's all automatic.
 
Steam is brilliant, always keep an eye out for the sales and do price compare. Some sites can be cheaper to buy games off but when the sales are on steam are un-beaten in value
