Is the 4870x2 the same as 2x 4870s?!

Haha, it sounds stupid, but I want to know :P

If I bought two 4870s and set them up in Xfire, would it be pretty much identical to buying a 4870X2?
 
2 1GB 4870s should perform basically indentical to a 4870x2. You'll need a few more power connectors though.

The 4870x2 does have some weird sideport thing but i dont even think that got enabled.
