Is the 7990 worth it?

Well it was worth £600 when Ghz 7970's were £350+, not now they are available for £250 which means 2x 7970Ghz = £500, would make a 7990 expensive at £600. :)

What your forgetting is 7970 is EOL. So when the deals are gone that is it, you've missed out. 7990 is current and won't be EOL until 2014.

670 and 680 deals proof of that, the crazy pricing is long gone on those and won't return as NVIDIA have now cleared the stock and our stock is minimal so we don't need to drop to such low levels again.

Although i agree,

Cheapest in stock 7970 £260x2=£520. - 7990 price £470 - £500. Soon £600.

Cheapest in stock 680 £265x2=£530. - 690 price £800.

£200 extra for a slower card with less vram, smaller bus so less memory bandwidth and it doesn't come with 8 free games. I'm all for the 7990 at current prices but compared to the 690 its priced very competitively.

£200 extra for a metal blower and Physx basically. Assuming you actually pay £600 for a 7990.

Is the HIS 7950 Ice-Q EOL as well then?

If that turns out to be the situation across the board then the new cards must be complete crap :(

Hm... so 7990's go from Expensive as hell to cheap as hell, and then back to expensive as hell?

My understanding is that AMD slashed HD7990 prices so they had a card that could beat the GTX780 at the same price as the GTX780 was flying off the shelves, once they have a single GPU card that can dual with the GTX780 the HD7990 can go back up in price and still be in a good position compared to the other cards on sale.

Also as a dual GPU card only needs one waterblock/backplate the HD7990 is a nice price/performance choice for waterboys :)

Some say no, some say yes, what I can tell you is HIS have none left, we've ordered the last 300pc which are due to arrive end of this month, we think after this they shall be no more.

At the current price levels the 79xx and 78xx are bargains and way below their price targets set by AMD. The new cards will come out shall be faster but at the same time will sit at their correct price levels, which will be higher, how much is unknown.
