with everything that has gone on with the new AMD 9000 Series of CPUs I am wondering if it was worth it for the performance return of 10%!!? (if that)

will X3D offer more for gamers (presume most people game on here)

I am just thinking the gains arnt worth it?

What do you lot reckon ?

Only in some niche scenarios, the X3D is the one for gaming.

The 9900x3D and 9950x3D could be interesting if they implement 3D V-cache on both CCD chiplets.

I guess this depends on what your current system is.

if already on 7000 series then most likely not worth the upgrade performance\price but this can vary depending on what you use your PC for as well.

ah yes, move from an early Ryzen system to a 9000 series makes sense but a 7000 series is cheaper but 7000/9000 series are able to run in the same motherboards.

These 870 and 870-e motherboards have PCI-e 5.0?

that the only adavancement?

I can’t see them putting V cache on both.

It’s going to be interesting to see what uplift the 9000X3D bring over the 70003D. I don’t think it’s going to be as much as some expect.

If you are already running a 7000 series chip then it isn't really worth going to a 9000 series chip unless you're also increasing core count, that said you could still get a 7000 series chip with more cores, save some cash and gain the majority of the performance.

If you're on an older platform then the 9000 series looks better but even then a 7000 chip will give you the same experience for considerably less money or more cores for similar money.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £696.97 (includes delivery: £7.99)

For gaming the 7800X3D is out on its own although the recent price increases have made it a bitter pill and with the 9800X3D rumoured to be arriving soon its probably best to wait for the launch and see where things settle.

I have noticed this has gone up and down loads over the last 2/3 months.

More up than down from what I’ve seen especially over the past month. It did drop to around £300 at one time but now seems around £370-380

I've only been watching it on OCUK and the cheapest it went was £315, then £30 then £350 and now £360
