Is the ATI problem still in GTA IV?

When i first fired it up on my 5850 it was a totally unplayable pile of carp on any setting. What fixed it was going into CCC and applying default settings (even though everything was on default already) and saving. After that worked beautifully on almost maxed out settings (just one of the detail sliders turned down a little if I recall).

Seems strange that you mention there is a difference between the settings set in CCC by default after you install, and then clicking 'Defaults' changes them to something different. i'll check it out.

This is my experience too, but after a short while (couple of hours gameplay) the performance will be stuttery again no matter what you do.

looks like memory leak.

5870: utter rubbish, totally unplayable, no matter what setting. very disappointed and even considered to go back to 260. upgraded to 580 when it came out (that's how eager i am to ditch the horrible AMD drivers) smoothest experience ever. have yet to find a need to upgrade my release drivers. "if it ain't broken, don't fix it."
