Is the B850 chipset worth it?

Hi,

I'm looking to rebuild my current system and base it around a Ryzen 7 9800X3D. I don't think PCIe 5.0 is relevent here as I'm looking at the Asus ROG Strix B650E-F and Asus ROG STRIX B850-F, and both claim to support this standard.

Is there anything I might've missed? As I'm struggling to see where the extra £100 goes on the new chipset boards.

You can get cheaper b850 motherboards if you want pcie5 it's really where your budget falls , for £167 you get this with 4 m2 slots and pcie5.

Go matx and boards are cheaper.

X870 is like B650E with USB4. X870E is like X670E with USB4.

In regards to the B850-F Strix specifically, from a quick look I can see:
- Stronger VRM.
- WIFI7 versus WIFI6E
- 4 M.2 slots (2x PCI-E 5.0) versus 3 M.2 slots (1x PCI-E 5.0)
