Hello,
I am looking to hand down my 3700x to my son, who is currently running a 2400g in a Gigabyte AB350N mITX motherboard. To take the new CPU it needs a BIOS update, and the F40 BIOS instructions require installing the EC FW firmware update "to avoid 4DIMM DDR compatibility on 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen CPU". Unfortunately there are quite a few posts about from people complaining that it wouldn't work or bricked their motherboard. The latter is a concern because I don't think this board has dual bios.
Does anyone know if this update is necessary if only two DIMMS will be used? This is afterall a mITX motherboard. Has anyone updated to the latest BIOS without the EC FW?
Thanks
