like our economy, stagnant at best
Intel makes a ton of cash, their profit margin rose on latest result I think. Apple also over 50% profit margin so a heck of a lot of profit.
The thing then with these shares is they already rose a lot over a year. Look back and its not a fall, its adjustment to previous gains. AMD has actual problem with the business? the big tech are mostly concerned with how many billion they make.
Generally I'm bullish on tech but every sector has dead wood waiting for the next storm
Like ours but not like the world. They all can sell global so its more transition then a dead end, again Im not certain how well AMD addresses sales in China or wherever but big tech generally exports well afaik
Right, we should compare products that aren't out yet, no wait, that's being pendant, also people did very much compare the 7970 to a GTX580, as those were the products out, and then when the GTX680 came out, it got compared to the 7970, as they are two products that are out.
And AMD recently launched Z60 as a "new" thing, even though it's not much more than a C-50/C-60 refinement, this was for the tablet/netbook area to compete with Clovertrail. Afaik, only Fuj have it in their Windows 8 tablet, and I haven't been able to find it.
EDIT : Also seems Vizio have it in a tablet seen in CES, Aand noticed it's the first they've seen.
Which frankly seems a little strange with the new platform due this year.
As it stands RIGHT AT THIS VERY SECOND IN AVAILABLE PRODUCTS, AMD aren't at an advantage in power consumption or heat or performance (Which is Z-60 parts, that will be quite short-lived), their IGP is still king over Intels in that arena however.
We compare current offerings to current offerings, take your biased crap elsewhere, when AMD's stuff comes out, and if it kills Intels stuff, I won't say "Compare it to Intels new stuff around the corner", I'll compare it to Intels current offerings.
So, yes it simply is true, someone buying today doesn't care about a product they can get if they wait an undisclosed amount of time, they want something that suits their needs right now, and in that area for heat/power/performance (bar IGP) in the mobile market, is that AMD? No.
Unless of course, you care to link me to one of these super AMD tablets so I can buy it?
EDIT : But don't bother replying, I've got FM13 to play and can't be fussed reading another wall of products that aren't currently available for purchase (As good as they may/may not be when they launch)
You telling others to take their biased crap elsewhere makes me LOL.....
Yes. Lol.
Biased? You? Never!
ARM CEO Says New 64-Bit Processors on Track to Hit Market in 2014
By Lilly Vitorovich CAMBRIDGE, England--ARM Holdings PLC's (ARM.LN) new energy-efficient 64-bit processors have attracted strong interest from chip makers and the first line-up of products are on track to hit the market next year, Chief Executive Warren East said Tuesday. Several companies that have licensed the chip designer's new technology will produce the first chips this year that will provide three times more processing power to mobile devices like smartphones and computer tablets, he said. Speaking from ARM's headquarters in Cambridge, England, Mr. East said there has been keen interest from companies wanting to partner ARM to develop silicon chips based on the new more powerful designs. "Of all the product launches that we've done, of all the generations of ARM's microprocessor, the latest generation has seen the strongest pull from our semiconductor partners," he said. Some 18 companies wanted to partner with ARM to produce the 64-bit processors, he said. Traditionally, ARM has worked with three lead partners on projects but given the strong interest in the 64-bit processors the company settled with six, Mr. East said. "Even now there's another two (companies) that are trying to muscle in towards the end," he added. ARM--which dominates the smartphone and tablet markets with its low-power chip designs--develops patented designs that are licensed to chip makers who then adapt them to their needs by adding their own specialist technology. Chip makers pay ARM an upfront fee to license the design, plus a royalty on every chip shipped. ARM is also counting on the enhanced computing power of its new 64-bit designs to push into new markets like high-end personal computers and servers, currently dominated by Intel Corp. (INTC). Work on the 64-bit processors, which will work alongside ARM's existing 32-bit processors, started in 2008 with a six-year development time frame, Mr. East said.
AMD won't ever go under, because if PC desktop sales go so badly, they'll just stop, you've gotta remember they have their hardware in every major console right now, and it looks like they won the next generation too. Same with Intel, they have their tech in the military iirc so that's a pretty much unbreakable foundation for both of them to fall back onto.

really, really bad move from AMD!!! they don't really have any kind of adds anywhere and the partnership with Fezza was really productive for them, but now we will see their name less and less. a pity, really...
