had my sight set on this card because it looks cool and is the fastest of all 1030 range from the stats, but too close to christmas i will wait till the sales next month and so ive got time to decide on final purchase.

my 610 is passive, so any sound is from hdd, cooler, case fan which is barely noticeable unless put your ear right up to it which means i would like to keep it the same near silent level with gpu upgrade, however i dont want to sacrifice performance for sake of fan either.

thanks for reply.

because in writing that evga with fan has the higher speeds which from previous graphic cards, having higher figures is useful, so dont want to sacrifice any performance small or large given the price point, plus on this site there is no passive cool card from evga? the only reason my 610 is passive is because i wasnt aware before purchase and was only £5, i dont usually have these types so dont know how the performance is effected with no cooling and it can be hit & miss on how much noise a fan might make.

sadly while i did have my sights set on a 1050 originally, my lenovo being original board etc has a 40w restriction on the slot nor have i found a guaranteed psu upgrade as i think it has a specific connection to board, so a 1030 is really my only best option which is fine as im only playing FO3 & SC2 nowadays which my computer is perfect for, just want better and an option to play 'the forest' without it playing like your drunk ha.

Looking at the EVGA website both passive and active (with fan) options have exactly the same clock speeds?

If you want a passive card I would just buy it from wherever has it in stock.

I would expect the fan to be pretty quiet though.

The only drawback I can see on the passive model is the cooler will take up more space than the one with the fan.

thanks for reply, again though i wasnt aware of a passive version, i am only going by whats on this site, but i was also talking about the speeds compared to the other 1030 models from other brands.... the heatsink of that passive one doesnt look any bigger than my 610, but theres enough space in the case anyways so its not a problem and as for the performance side, its not so much if the passive can match the fan model performance without heat being an issue, it was more the case i am looking at the evga fan model and was curious about fan noise, not had many low profile cards, but i know smaller fans can somewhat be more nosier dependent on type.

i was nearly getting a used gt 710 for £20 or less just to see what that does as a stop gap, but i keep reading they dx9? 32bit?, basically seeming like its worse than the 610? i did see a 730 for a fiver more, but no small bracket was included(used) which is a requirement as i dont like how much movement my 610 has due to no bracket
