Is the form factor likely to change in the next few years?

BTX is already outdated and surpassed. :)

It is now ATX 2.0 :)

Not like to be changed in the next three years, probably a lot longer.
 
Pretty much as Yewen said, BTX was designed to cope with hot, nasty, evil things called Prescotts. When Intel finally saw the light with Yonah, Conroe, et al., the need for BTX went away. Having said that, you can buy systems based on BTX, so it is 'out there' in limited fashion.
 
The case selection for BTX at the high end just really is not there, or the medium!

Says it all to me personally, it is slowly dying a death like the old mATX style motherboards did. (not the newer mATX ones though, they are still alive and well. :))
