Hello,

Been after one of these for awhile as i do sometimes take my xbox if im away for a few days and while i do have a non gaming laptop thats always with me on a stay over which is capable for some games. i prefer the console.

My laptop bag already holds my laptop and one of those large Picasso tablets, so i dont particularly want to fill it with a portable monitor aswell which i know are cheaper and better. Would convenient my ps5 if i took that instead, but the xbox screen supports the ps5 bar fitment obviously.

The prices vary and the 4k version can be had for a deal that makes it cheaper than the 1080p currently, but while i use a 4k 60hz monitor at home, im not sure if that the right choice with these G Storys.

£280 from Amazon, or £140 from AliX (I'd happily wait the 7-10 days, rather than pay double)...

As a cheaper alternative, have you looked into streaming your games from your home setup (PC, PS5/Xbox)?

We had a similar dilemma - autism + bleeding disorder means we spend a fair amount of time in hospital. There's only so much YouTube/Netflix/Stremio a kid can take, so we started taking the Switch with us.

My son asked if there was any way we could bring his PC, or "invest in a gaming laptop", but anything even close to the same spec was thousands.

I already knew about streaming from my old PS4, using PSPlay, so I looked at PC-targeted alternatives.

Check out Moonlight (Client) & Sunshine (Host), available on most platforms - we have Toob gigabit internet (must have the static IP to work), so we can stream either of our PCs to my Android tablet (12" 1440p, 120hz screen) or my son's Chromebook (14", 1440p 90hz), or even a Firestick or our phones.

We can do exactly the same with our PS5 (using PXPlay - it's faster/better than the native app for a one-off $5).

There's two options for Xbox streaming: either Cloud Gaming (needs a Gamepass subscription), or stream games from your existing Xbox using the Remote Play feature. Guide for both options here

And there's always a Geforce Now subscription if you want to play stuff not already installed/streaming from your home kit.

You can improve streaming latency/speed by making sure you've a fast WiFi connection and avoiding Bluetooth for your controller. We use the excellent Gamesir Cyclone 2 (which also has an extra phone holder attachment) - it's worked with every app I've tested (although needed to map each button with PXPlay - just assign the touch pad press to one of the rear buttons. About a 2 minute step-by-step process in the app settings).

Having access to our entire Steam/Epic/PS5 & Xbox libraries, wherever we have decent WiFi, has made a big difference to our family's ability to go on trips away.

My son has been able to take time-outs when we were in Canada & Mallorca, doing what he does to unwind/decompress, without having to drag his whole setup away with us.

When we got caught in a sudden blizzard near Banff (last Thanksgiving) and needed an extra 24 hours in the motel, we were able to keep the kids entertained by plugging a Firestick into the TV and taking turns playing Hogwarts Legacy...
