Is the H100 just a time saver?

So i have been considering upgrading my CoolIt Vantage ALC cooler to an H100 for a couple of weeks now (since i needed something on my Christmas list). I have only had my pc for 5 or 6 weeks but i love tinkering with it so i need something to occupy me and thought a cooler upgrade might be nice. However, today i watched a video on you tube for a 120mm water cooling system for CPU only and the kit cost about £100.

So i was wondering, if i bought an H100 it would cost £80 for the unit and 2x £10 for the fans i would put on it, then it would mount nicely in the top of my 600T and all be over pretty quickly. But if i bought the single 120mm cooling block and all the necessary stuff to go with it, it would also cost £100. So is the H100 just saving me time? Because i'd rather do it myself to be honest, much more fun.

Or would i need a much more expensive watercooling kit to get the same cooling performance as the H100, thus costing me more?

im currently selling a bunch of new HDDs on the bay so i should have a little money come through soon and may be able to afford a water cooling setup.:D

What would you suggest?

I actually bought the H80 with 2 fans on the 120mm radiator unit, and it does a pretty good job on my Phenom II x6 @4Ghz, the H100 is just painful if you have a case like mine that can fit 15 fans (LANBoy Air) but have to sacrifice a few fans to fit it in.

That is a very.... err... open case, must be an epic dust trap? So your saying the H100 is pretty loud?

don't know how much difference my closed side 600T would have.

I found the H100 fans a tad on the loud side, so I switched them out for some scythe ones that run very quiet even underload.
I went for the H100 over the watercooling block route because I cba with the maintenance of a watercooled system (I am lazy lol)

You see the maintenance is something i quite like, im more of a pc enthusiast than a gamer. So the hardware itself is the decent thing about it. I'm just not too sure how much the whole loop is going to cost.

Can somebody spec me a Water Cooling Loop for my CPU in sig. An idea of price for GPU too would be excellent.

Try the watercooling subforum (if you haven't already), plenty of very helpful experts in there to help you out :)

Roverno -if you like to tinker with your PC mate, try proper custom watercooling. It takes aaaaages to sort out and was one of the reasons I went to a H100 not too long ago. HOWEVER - the performance of custom watercooling is unbeatable! (but it will be twice the cost of the H100 for a decent setup)

+1 to getting the custom loop if you can afford it, ive heard stories of it taking days to bleed awhole system 100%, and theres all kinds of things you can do to change the looks, different dye's / fluid ect

and if you fancy upgrading something chances are you will only need 1 new block, and maybe not even that!
