Is the jump worth it 4000 to 4800?

As O/C are selling the last skt939 CPU's is it worth it for me taking this jump? I play games and only have the single core CPU so would see some improvement in multitasking going duel core. Is the 4800 with extra cache worth it over the others? This will give me another 6 months plus then move to quad :)

The extra cache isn't worth the extra £40 over the x2 4600 imo. Either try and get a x2 4400 for less money elsewhere (probably not that likely though) or just go for a x2 3800 and overclock it! The 3800 in this week only is less than I paid for it in August!
 
i have just gone for a 4800 today should be here tomorrow :P i have the same cpu as u and its just not cutting it today so went for the 4800 and i intend to overclock to fx60 speeds :p
 
X2 4200+ this week only for <95 squids!! That is just wrong!! :eek:

I'd grab the X2 4200+ tbh simply unbeatable value, amazing if you think about people at the bay are paying stupid amount for one of these.
 
normally quite easy depending on if you getting a beast or not.is it just me who thinks the handle/clamp is gunna snap every time you fit one :D

he cant use that unfortunatly as its AM2 and i believe he is on 939.

as for an upgrade at all, you should try to get yourself an opteron 170 if possible as 90% of them overclock to 3Ghz and come with 2X 1mb L2 cache, they can be picked up for about £125

Doh! Just realised it's the AM2 that is on this week only not the skt939.

Oh well £105 for skt939 X2 4200+ is still good value though.
