IS the PSu imoprtant to O'C'ing?

Hi, ive got a 750w EZcool PSU,
but it only uses a 4pin mobo cpu connector. Wheras my p5q accepts an 8pin.

would this give any issues?

The PSU is the single most important component in a pc. If it fails, a cheap one will be more likely to take out other components with it. A cheap one is also not going to be capable of whatever outputs it claims on the label and is made from low quality components. Never, ever skimp on a psu. Invest in a quality brand. Unfortunately for you, EZ-Cool is not one of them.

8 Pin plugs are mostly only needed for quads.

it was the only one in store at the time which had 2x pci16 plugs lol.

and mines a quad, wondering why i occasionally got the BSOD after clocking

Yeah, get a new PSU mate. I certainly wouldn't trust my system with that one.

I'm very sure you don't want an 800W PSU for 42 quid.
I'm vaguely worried about mine, since ocz have rendered it end-of-life already. But seems to be working excellently. That was about £100 for an 800W one though

(if replacing, you probably don't need an 800W psu. I think mines rated for four graphics cards at once)

looking into a gtx280 soon, so will probly need something better before then lol

i had a ocz 700w gamextreme, it had run faultlessly for 2 years untill 3 weeks ago when it crackled on power up and my pc didnt bootup

i contacted ocz, they were brilliant and said send it to us and we'll send you an 850w to replace it

i will use ocz psu's again as mine was faultless and to be fair it was totally clogged full of dust as i never cleaned it out in the 2 years i had it

OCZ are ok, like Antecs, but I would recommend:

Corsair
Coolermaster
Zalman
PC Power & Cooling
Be Quiet

Those all seem to be the most popular and reliable PSU's. My personal favourite are Corsair.

the PSU is the heart..cant live with out it need a strong one.
the CPU is a brain you can survive being a bit thick but you would like to be clever.
the GPU is the senses you want em but can live without them.
mmmm the cooling is like clothes.....
