Is the quest 3 worth upgrading from the quest 2? Is it easier to get clarity?

Mainly for simracing. I have a quest 2 and a rtx 4080/7800x3d.

I saw people saying it would be harder on the GPU to fill out the increased resolution - but that seems odd to me, wouldn't it mean I could lessen the super sampling and maintain/increase resolution?

Anyone tried it yet in AMS2 or AC/ACC?

I have just upgraded from a quest 2 to a 3 and I am happy with the upgrade. I am playing ams2 and ac I used to use 1.2 super sampling but now I find even super sampling @ 1.0 looks better than the quest 2.
The pancake lenses are also very good, they have a massive sweet spot no more blurriness at the edges of the lenses, and no god rays although you do still get a bit of glare. I also find compression artifacts are non existent on quest 3 but on quest 2 I got them on the road in the distance.

I think the larger FoV alone would be a good upgrade, but when you consider the higher resolution, significantly better lenses, ability to use AV1 with your 40 series etc it’s a no brainer upgrade imo if you have the cash.

I’ve seen reports of lots of quality control issues regarding dead pixels, excessive mura etc so buy from somewhere with an easy returns policy perhaps!

Mine however was absolutely fine - there’s a bit of mura but nothing unusual and no dead pixels.

Yea I'm having pretty much the exact experience.

TBH, it probably isn't worth the upgrade. But stuff looks great on it, and I'm a sucker for simracing these days, so I'll keep it. The first thing I loaded up was the 23' redbull on spa in assetto corsa and was hit by the clarity pretty good.

I too ran 1.2 supersampling in AMS2 and I think I put it to 1.0 to make things smooth again. And put the ole' overclock on the GPU to try and even things up a bit

ACC though... IDK. definitely looks better. But something about this game just looks bad in VR. IDK. I don't like how the cars look like they hover. And I can't seem to decide between DLSS/FSR/TAA etc.

I'd be curious to try F1 23 again to see if this helps, but I doubt it'd be enough. Plus it wasn't just the blurriness, it was jumpy as hell in VR

Does the 3 still use the same old debug program? I opened it and turned off that spacewarp nonsense but tbh I'm not exactly sure if it's the same with the 3 as the 2.
