I have just got bought an fx60, but am new to amd I have always had pentium before. I used to have a 3ghz P4, I was just wondering *** the speed of the fx60 is in pentium terms. Basically i want to know how much better the fx60 is than my old P4 3GHz. Cheers

Here's how much better your FX60 is than your old P4 3GHz

(You can't compare them on a by MHz basis, but for reference, the FX60 is two cores, both operating at 2.6GHz. Each one is faster (in most applications, and especially games) than a 4GHz Pentium, and you've got two of them!)

You'd hope so for a £750 CPU! 
Of course the real-world benefits you will reap will be largely dependent upon what use you put the chip to, but you're well set for the latest generation of games which can make use of multi-core CPUs.

yeah, considering a 3400 or 3500+ chip is still able to play games fine these days, i can see that chip fulfilling requirements for the next 3 years +. nice buy btw. and that cpu costs more than my total build will =/ lol.
the FX60 is only the BEST cpu out atm. if youre a gamer or a multitasker then this will blow your socks off matey 
EDIT: im running a 3500+ Venice and all games are at max with my 7800. the FX60 has two cores, each have twice as much cache and are clocked 400Mhz faster. although i am uncertain as to if they are San Diego or Toledo cores.

The dual core with 1MB cache is the Toledo core.
Dual Core / 512KB cache is the Manchester core, but some 512KB cache chips are Toledo cores with half the cache disabled.
San Diego is single core only.

Err, the Opty 170s have a 1mg L2 Cache per core if that is what your after.

Opty 170s are Toledo cores...
