Is the vision camera worth it?

The catalyst for me wanting it is the funky face mapping in Rainbow Six Vegas. Though it seems pretty pricey just for that! Looking at getting the one with the years gold sub as I don't have that either, and some good MP fun over the next couple of weeks as everyone gets GoW and R6.

Is it worth it? What else can you use it for?
 
You can use it as a regular webcam and it has the potential to be used for eyetoy type gaming.
The quality of picture was very good. I had a chat with McDaniel and he was displayed in full high res detail, I could see every spot and blemish and both the hairs on his chin.
However you need decent lighting for any such camera to work properly.

Apart from the face mapping there are some games where you can literally see your opponent ..... not sure if that is good or not lol.
 
I had a video chat with McD yesterday which ended in me falling off a chair and standing on my headset so now I have a massive bruise on the sole of my foot, ouch.

What did he do to make you fall off your chair? He didn't ........................ flash at you..... did he?
 
The novelty of the camera wears off after 48 hours!

Unless your gonna use it a lot dont bother.
 
Doesn't it come with a 12month live card though? Surely that's gotta be another good incentive to buy. Even if you shop around for a good deal on a live subscription, which you can pick up for about twenty quid, that means the camera is only £15 which I think is a bargain, especially how you could also use it for the PC.

There will be as and when they release eye toy style games for it.
However ... Have you ever seen Mcdaniel and chatted to him face to face? it is clearly worth £35 just for that. Infact he will always be the "face" of the 360 for me. Or "arse" of the 360 depending on how you look at it ;) - or don't if you don't get the camera..........
 
i got mine this morn. cost me 26 inc postage from gameplay. the main reason i bought it is for the face mappin on rainbow six but i had a play with the totemball game which was quite fun. i say go for it, its 50 with a year of live which makes the deal even sweeter and it can also be used on your pc plus the build quality is fantastic
 
Hmm the £25 one has a month's free on gold so I can see if I like it, as tbh when I had the gold trial when I got the console I played maybe half a dozen PGR3 matches, and got bored the with the 'tards who disconnect at the finish or spin you out on the first bend.

In R6:Vegas multiplayer, isn't it meant to show a little screen with your face when you talk? :confused:

I may have just thought that up :/ lol

You can also create a character with your face map.

Is tony hawk going to?? i remember THUG before allowed you to e-mail a pic in and get your face mapped and sent back to you, surely it wouldnt be such a leap for them? and they could do it on 360 and PS3?
 
anyone know of any soft i can use to mess with the cam under xp? ive tried messenger and it works on there but im after something similar to the soft u get on the mac with the wierd effects etc. tried webcamxp and it wudnt show any picture from the cam :confused:

Amcap? but i don't think that does effects
