Is the word chav offensive?

It's a word that really gets on my nerves because people on this forum apply it to everybody who doesn't come up to a certain level.

a) The 'N word' has an abhorrent historical context which chavs doesn't
b) The N word is applied to all black people, 'chav' is only a section of white people.

ok to abusive to a minority of whites then is it?

why is one minority allowed protection from abuse and not others? same as the ginger abuse people get.

Not agreeing that the word chav is AS offensive as 'n*****' doesn't mean I think chav is a nice word.
