Anyone know if the X1950XT 256mb is better than the 7900GTO512mb?

Yup my bad, im forgetting that if you OVERCLOCK a GTO it will be faster than a STOCK x1950 XT, which is obvious isn't it really, and also that the x1950 XT must remain at stock as it can't be overclocked, so GTO it is, sorry.

Dont take it personally mate, its just highlighting the facts about both cards.
Its better to give people the full picture of why people buy the GTO's not just one line answers.
That way he can make a more educated guess on whats best for him.

Why? I have just installed one and used the (can't remember what it's called) automatic overclock tool in the catalyst control centre thingy and it overclocked. At least I am pretty sure it did, I didn't notice the original settings for the core and the memory.

X1950XT > 7900GTO at stock.
When BOTH cards are overclocked the 7900GTO will be as good if not better than the X1950XT.
The 7900GTO is quieter, cooler and as fast. The X1950XT is probably the same price.
All of those into the mix and you can make your own decision. I would personally buy the X1950XT as I think it would still be a little tiny bit faster in games.

I did it at lunchtime so was a bit pushed for time. Went from nvidea to ati, the software isn't as straightforward that's for sure. I will put the card back to stock and do it all properly later.

Bingo.
Btw Naffa your wrong, you can't compare them stock for stock, GT0 has to be overclocked before it can be compared to a stock XT, its in the Nvida handbook, so the GTO owns it, its a Nvidia card, on name alone it OWNS IT.
