Hi i was using a netgear dg834gv2 untill it broke and now im using the supplied sagem f@st 2404. As far as i know this free router works fine?

im in spain with adsl 10mb/800kb on adsl2+

ppoe 8/32

snr 18.1 15.5

atten 27.0 9.2

Im using a bigfoot networks card so this can prioritize traffic, i already have a gig switch.

What can a better router offer me? i dont have a problem with stability that i know of, i also have a laptop wireless g.

Depends what you want to do, different routers with different feature sets lend themselves better to different activities.
If things work fine as they are and you're happy with the speed and stability don't spend money needlessly.
If there's a particular area that is lacking or you want to improve, like VPN, or QoS or faster wireless then say so and people will spec a router to suit your needs.

"what can a better router offer me?" the answer is: anything and everything depending on what your budget is and what your level of expertise is.

You have +12dB of unused SNR.

Effectively 4Mb of untapped speed you're losing out on, because your modem/line is set to a high SNR value.

As mentioned tweaking the target SNR could perhaps afford you more bandwidth. But as for gaming there's not a lot that will improve performance as gaming is more reliant on latency.
Human reflexes aren't really affected by connection latency until it hits about 100ms so if your connecting is stable with no packet loss and of a reasonable bandwidth then there's little a different router could do to improve things.

I dont know if i can do anything about this as
Im on a 10mb/800kb package which is the highest available on the island.
Or do you have a suggestion?
